Policy

Privacy Policy

A short policy, because MLSR collects very little personal data.

What we collect

ML Systems Review is a plain static website. Reading our articles does not require an account, and we do not collect personal data from readers. Specifically:

The site sets no cookies of its own. Your browser may set cookies for third-party resources that are embedded in our pages (for example, a web font served from a CDN); we describe those below.

Server logs

Our hosting provider maintains request logs, as any HTTP server does. These logs include: the requesting IP address, the user-agent string, the requested URL, the referrer (if sent by your browser), and the timestamp of the request. Logs are retained for 30 days and then deleted. We use them to diagnose outages and detect abuse; we do not use them to build profiles of individual readers.

Third-party resources

Our pages embed fonts and, in some articles, images served from third-party infrastructure:

Email correspondence

When you email us at editors@, tips@, or corrections@, your message is retained in our email system for as long as needed to answer it and to keep a record in case a later correction is required. We do not use email addresses obtained through correspondence for any purpose other than replying.

If you are a background source and wish to delete your correspondence from our records, we will do so on request, with the caveat that any reporting already published based on that correspondence will remain published.

GDPR (European readers)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, readers based in the European Economic Area have specific rights over personal data that we hold. Because we do not collect personal data beyond the server logs described above, those rights are correspondingly narrow. To exercise them — for instance, to request that we delete any log entries that may pertain to you — write to editors@mlsystemsreview.com with enough identifying information to locate the records, and we will confirm within 30 days.

Our legal basis for the limited processing we do is legitimate interest in operating a functional website and diagnosing abuse. We do not rely on consent for tracking, because we do not track.

CCPA (California readers)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and its amendments (CPRA), California residents have rights to know what personal information is collected about them, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale. ML Systems Review does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and collects no personal information beyond the server logs described above. California residents may exercise their rights by writing to editors@mlsystemsreview.com; we will respond within 45 days.

Children

MLSR is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us correspondence that should be removed, please write to editors@mlsystemsreview.com.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the "Updated" date at the top of the page and note the substantive change. We will not start collecting personal data without an explicit update here.
